When building your home office keep in mind that if working from home, there are some basic requirements that are standard with most all of the work at home positions you will come across.

There are a few that offer their own equipment but in the off chance you must provide your own, this is what they look for you to have:

-Desktop PC- (Usually not supported are laptops or MAC)
Usually require a 1-2 Ghz processor
Windows 7,8 or 10 (Usually not supported is Vista or XP) However bare in mind that Windows 10 is still somewhat new and may not be compatible with some older software used by employers at this junction
Usually at least 1GB of RAM
 Speakers, sound card
Most WORK AT HOME positions require at least a 15" Monitor, some require 17" or larger so you will want to check specific job requirements on the home page of whatever company you are applying for.
Some jobs require Dual Monitors, but there are only a few that requires this and most of them that do will provide the second monitor
Some require webcam for certain campaigns they are hiring for
Most will require some form of spyware protector, virus protector (Windows Defender etc...) There are some companies that will provide there own and they will require you to download there software protection
Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel...These are pretty standard on most computers anyway but if you are not familiar with them it may be a good idea to familiarize yourself.

-DSL/Cable Internet- Most cases this is a standard requirement and they will not allow you to use satellite or a wireless connection, also dial up is not an option.
-Phone- This does vary by job but in most of them you will be required to have either VOIP service or a dedicated landline phone with features turned off, such as voicemail, call waiting and call block.
If a landline is required you will most likely have to have a corded phone with noise cancelling headset (No wireless phones) If your employer uses VOIP then you most likely with be required to have a USB noise cancelling headset that plugs into your computer.

-Other-
No Wireless: Keyboard, Mouse or All-In-One Computers
May require a working personal email
Supported browsers: Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox
Possibly a printer, scanner, fax or paper shredder

ALMOST ALL COMPANIES AT HOME REQUIRE A NOISE FREE, DISTRACTION FREE WORK ENVIRONMENT ( NO CHILDREN, PETS, TV'S, RADIOS OR CELL PHONE RINGING)

These are not usually positions that can be done while caring for small children at the same time.

FYI: Its also a good idea to have a power strip and back up battery supply for your desktop and work station.
